The concrete industry's work reduced climate impact towards a net-zero roadmap in 2045
Esatto, which is part of Betcrete, chose the Ecometrix platform as the solution for the Swedish concrete industry's need for reference data and KPIs for the industry's progress. For this, the project has used the Ecometrix Industry and Company platform, which enabled collection, data security and comparability analyzes according to the needs of the industry. The BETCRETE 3.0 project continues in many parts and includes many major initiatives within the industry and is expected to be completed in its entirety in 2025.
The Swedish concrete industry needed to gather strength in order to be able to measure and follow up the carbon dioxide impact of sustainability initiatives in a relevant and transparent way. Many important initiatives are underway through Betcrete, and the industry needs to find a baseline and understand how the initiatives affect overall greenhouse gas emissions. They had identified five key KPIs driving carbon usage and were looking for a good platform to securely track status and progress. The discussion about KPIs continues and develops continuously within Betcrete.

We used the Ecometrix Industry and Company reporting and analysis framework to meet Betcrete's needs for a secure methodology to compare company data without breaching confidentiality. We adapted the KPI calculations based on the "deliverables" identified by the concrete industry to create an industry-relevant solution.
Several of the largest concrete producers in Sweden can now monitor and compare their carbon dioxide emissions to understand where progress is being made and where further efforts are needed to reach the industry's and companies' goals for climate-neutral concrete in 2045. Betcrete 3.0 runs until January 2025 and the work with follow-up of KPIs will be published before the project ends.
