Ecometrix in major Indian-Swedish collaboration to reduce C02 emissions

The Swedish Energy Agency will support the transition work in the cement industry within the framework of the bilateral work with India. This is part of the work within what is called the Indian-Sweden Industrial Transition Partnership (ITP). During COP 28, Indian Prime Minister Modi and Swedish Prime Minister Kristersson agreed that the countries will jointly take measures for the industry's transition and net zero emissions by 2050, through the ITP.

ITP will proactively work to support the development of examples and solutions that can contribute to the transition work in the steel and cement sectors. The work will be industry-oriented and focused on piloting and demonstrating solutions.

Ecometrix is one of 5 companies that together with RISE who now has the opportunity to support the Swedish Energy Agency in this work. Planning is already in full swing and Ecometrix will travel to India together with the Swedish Energy Agency and RISE in March when initial meetings between Swedish and Indian stakeholders will take place.

"The Indian market is really exciting with enormous potential. Initially, Ecometrix is working on optimizing concrete recipes, project Acorn, which Indian players have shown interest in, but I believe that our data services around industry collaboration and material data will also be very relevant in the various initiatives that may emerge in ITP, says Erik Enecker, CEO at Ecometrix.”

Calculated in volumes of manufactured concrete, the largest concrete manufacturer in India produces more concrete than the entire Nordic region combined. This means that the leverage of what, for example, optimization of concrete recipes can do in collaboration with Indian companies can make a big difference. Small percentage points are significant when the volumes are large. Ecometrix already collaborates with RISE in the optimization of concrete and is currently building a large database of CO2 data for building materials.

"Ecometrix is of course happy to be involved in work that really has the potential to make a difference. The entire team of developers and analysts is fighting hard for this," says, Björn Sundqvist, Chairman of the Board of Ecometrix.
