The construction industry magazine tells about Ecometrix, two platforms for managing environmental data for the construction industry:
- Archon: A technology platform where companies can report sustainability data. Ecometrix then processes this data and presents trends over time, either at the company or industry level. The platform is designed to handle sensitive data and meet confidentiality requirements.
- Cicero: A service that presents data at the product level. It uses AI, specifically large language models, to decode environmental product declarations (EPDs) for construction products. Cicero allows users to quickly get an overview of EPDs, filter on different factors, and compare products side by side. The name Cicero was chosen because the company wants to act as a “guide or signpost” for the industry.
Ecometrix's system currently contains a few thousand building products, with around 100 new ones added every week. The company's customers are mainly construction companies and designers. Ecometrix CEO, Erik Enecker, does not see Ecometrix as a competitor to existing environmental assessment systems such as Byggvarubedömningen and Sunda Hus, but rather sees them as customers of Ecometrix by having data delivered to them.
The article in the magazine Byggindustri also addresses the challenges of digitalization in the construction industry. According to Ecometrix, one of them is a "perfectionism" that is not always necessary but holds back change, but also cultural challenges where new ideas are met with skepticism.
