LeadIT 3.0: Strengthening the Sweden–India Partnership for Industrial Transition

The recent announcement by the Prime Ministers of Sweden and India to extend the Leadership Group for Industry Transition (LeadIT) for another four years marks an important milestone for global industrial transformation. The decision reinforces the long-term commitment between Sweden and India to accelerate the transition of heavy industry and strengthen collaboration around low-carbon industrial development.

At Ecometrix, we are proud to be part of the LeadIT community and to contribute to the growing collaboration between Swedish and Indian industry actors.

LeadIT has become an important platform for bringing together governments, industry leaders, technology providers, and innovators around one shared challenge: how to transform some of the world’s most resource-intensive sectors while maintaining competitiveness and growth. The continued commitment from both governments sends a strong signal that industrial transition is no longer a future ambition — it is an ongoing implementation effort.

As part of this ecosystem, Ecometrix is currently engaged in the Sweden–India Industry Transition Partnership (ITP), where we are conducting a feasibility study together with Prism Johnson, one of India’s leading cement companies. The project is part of the broader bilateral cooperation framework launched under LeadIT to accelerate innovation and industrial transition initiatives between Sweden and India.

For us, this work represents more than a single project. It demonstrates the value of cross-border collaboration between industrial companies, technology providers, and public initiatives. One of the strongest aspects of LeadIT is precisely this ability to create an ecosystem where ideas, expertise, and implementation capacity can meet across sectors and geographies.

“LeadIT represents exactly the kind of collaboration needed to accelerate industrial transition — where governments, industry, and technology providers work together around real implementation challenges. During our work in India, we have seen firsthand how valuable these partnerships and exchanges can be in creating momentum for long-term change. We are proud to contribute to this ecosystem and to support the growing cooperation between Sweden and India through our work with Prism Johnson.”

We also believe that meaningful industrial transition requires practical tools and scalable digital infrastructure. As companies face increasing pressure around efficiency, sustainability, compliance, and supply-chain transparency, access to structured industrial data becomes increasingly critical. This is an area where we see significant opportunities to contribute through our technology and expertise.

The extension of LeadIT into its next phase — LeadIT 3.0 — is therefore highly encouraging. It shows that Sweden and India are continuing to invest in long-term industrial partnerships and in creating the conditions necessary for large-scale transition initiatives.

We are grateful to be part of this community and look forward to continuing the collaboration with partners across both countries in the years ahead.
